Songwriting (By the Tutorial Doctor):
1) Think of something to talk about. Then think of a story to go with it. I will make an example below. I want to talk about fruit. And I will talk about an apple dating an orange, but the apple and the orange are just not compatible:
''I am an apple''
''You are an orange'
''You're not compatible''
''with me''
''Because we didn't come from the same type of tree''
''So why can't you just please let it be''
''you're incompatible with me''
( C minor scale)
F G> H< C> A<
F G> H< C>
F G F< E> D< C<
A G
F G> F< DD> D C< A< C> C D> F<
F D> D C< A C C D> F<
F G F AAAGF G F
2) Now, you have to think about a melody. Each word should have a note that goes with it. Hum it first. If you know music, you can write each note above the corresponding word.
3) Give it a beat. The beat is what holds the song together. Even classical music has a beat, whether or not they have drums. Someone called it the backbone of music (I guess that would make the melody the flesh?)
Now all you have to do is add some flavor so it doesn't sound so corny. By the way, you can switch 2 and 3 if you want to. And I have decided that this song is sang on the C minor scale (I don't know music, I just have this ipod app that helped me.)
Note: In the song that I am actually making, I have changed up the notes a little. They don't match each word exactly. But hey, that is the art of music!
That is a quick 3 step approach, I will look for videos.
